Market Riff 6
Welcome to the 6th in my Abstract series inspired from an older plein air painting.
This guy was a struggle. I kept feeling like I was close but just missing something so I'd put it away for a few days and then come back to it. I'd add a shape, change a color draw on it a bit....then repeat it again a few days later. I even took photos, thinking it was done until I JUST couldn't let it go....had to spend another 2 hours on it.
I am happy now. :)
My plein air work is completely based in observing; painting what I see. What I enjoy about abstract work is being able to disengage from that; to play and not be tied to reality. It takes me a bit of "loosening up" to really get disengaged...it is a process, one I enjoy because there are discoveries all along the way.
