Initial impressions can be deceiving. Many just see dirty, gritty, grayness in a street scene, but there is worth in all things....we sometimes have to look a little harder to see it!

When I walk down a city street, I get excited by the sights and sounds; the colors, textures and shapes.
There is DEFINITELY a rhythm and grace I see and
try to capture in my paintings.

I go on location and paint what I see. This is called 'plein air painting'. There is nothing like being out on the street, reacting to the light, sounds and, often, the people while painting. You have to focus and respond quickly because conditions change. It's kind of a
spontaneous art-sport!

When the weather doesn't cooperate I'll use photos and other references and paint in my home art studio. Some of this work leans toward the abstract and some is figurative. It is fun to explore varied ways of painting. I enjoy the diversity and I believe it makes it more fun for you, the viewer and collector.

Variety is the spice of life, right!
