As a counterpoint to the small studio studies, I painted these small abstract urban landscapes. The studio studies were based in direct observation. The urban series was based less in observing a specific scene and more in responding to the forms and shapes in front of me (from a photo) and responding directly with them. I went back in on some pieces numerous times to modify and simplify.
