Luken Steel 2
Oil 12 x 12 x 1.5
I am a sucker for a path leading you into a painting and I thought the contrasting colors and textures were a draw as well. This old mill has many stories to tell and was such fun to paint.
I helped coordinate the painters for this plein air event with Art Partners in Coatesville, PA and Luken Steel who manufactured the base “trees” for the World Trade Center. Twenty+ painters painted for 2 weekends around the historic family property and the mill that produced the steel trees. This steel plant actually made many other significant industrial contributions and is the site of The National Iron and Steel Heritage Museum. Amazing what you can learn while out painting!
