Original plein air urban landscape oil painting of Philadelphia street. I really love taking these ordinary urban scenes and turning them into vibrant, energetic art.
Original plein air urban landscape oil painting of city street scene. This traditionally unpicturesque scene was a challenge to paint on this gray winter’s day. I liked the receding street, the vertical poles and the splash of color the signs provided. I really love taking these ordinary urban scenes and turning them into vibrant, energetic art.
Working en plein air or “in the open air” is a wonderful way to interpret your environment. My goal is always to create the experience of that place at that time rather than record it like a photograph would.
My brushwork is loose and impressionistic. I like to work quickly and expressively. I enjoy working pencil drawing into the wet paint to add details as well as a different mark to the painting. This is my way of combining painting and drawing into one finished completely original art work.
