Original plein air landscape oil painting of lonely section of roadway. A quiet moment in time in contemporary art work.
Original plein air oil painting of lonely stretch of road. I really love taking ordinary scenes and turning them into original art. To take a moment to see and appreciate what’s around us is a wonderful thing. This happens to be Route 12 in Maryland but I think it is a universal scene and perhaps reminds you of someplace you know and love.
Working en plein air or “in the open air” is a wonderful way to interpret your environment. My goal is always to create the experience of that place at that time rather than record it like a photograph would.
My brushwork is loose and impressionistic. I like to work quickly and expressively. I often work pencil drawing into the wet paint to add details as well as a different mark to the painting. This is my way of combining painting and drawing into one finished completely original art work.
